Want To Hire Sean Hughes?
That will prove rather difficult…. as Sean has sadly passed away, but we have kept his profile page online….
Sean Hughes may have the lovely accent, but he’s not as Irish as you might think: he was actually born in London, but the family moved back to Dublin when he was six. Imagine: little Sean turning up at a new school at the height of the Troubles, sporting the provocative combination of a bow-tie and a Cockney accent. His Dad used to joke that he looked and sounded like Tommy Steele. Bless. We’ve loved Sean ever since he was on telly back in the 1990’s with his low-key, charmingly funny ‘Sean’s Show’, which was nominated for a British Comedy Award. Book Sean Hughes and you’re getting a hugely talented stand up, who was, in fact, the youngest ever winner of the prestigious Perrier Comedy Award.
Getting Better All The Time
Sean continues to develop and hone his skills as a stand-up, writer and actor, and his recent live shows have been a bit more theatrical than those of the past. His performances are often tender, touching and warmly amusing, leaving audiences more than satisfied.
From Corrie To Rubberdubbers
Sean has had notable success on TV. Highlights include: being a wonderfully sardonic team captain on ‘Never Mind the Buzzcocks’; appearing in ITV soap, ‘Coronation Street’; playing a lead role in ‘The Last Detective’, and being the voice of ‘Finbar the Shark’ in the Rubberdubbers (one of a number of plastic bath toys which come to life when no one’s looking. Great show. Unbearably catchy theme tune). Sean likes to move with the times and also has his own podcast called ‘Under the Radar’. And did we mention that he once kissed Kylie Minogue at an MTV gig he was hosting? Oh, yeah, he’s full of surprises, is Sean.
