Andy Parsons will be a familiar face for anyone into British comedy, a regular on topical panel show Mock the Week and an accomplished stand up in his own right. In the words of The Telegraph, “What he lacks in hair, Parsons more than makes up for in originality.” Andy is a simple man, an everyman, who truly understands the frustrations of day to day life, be it the ridiculous antics of politicians or the tiny misadventures we all have (but don’t like to admit). A LITTLE BIT OF PARSONS HISTORY
Andy Parsons started out in a double act with Henry Naylor while working as a law clerk, which he describes as the most tedious thing he’s ever done. With Naylor he started TBA, one of Britain’s first sketch comedy clubs.
Andy kicked off his solo stand up career in 2000 and in 2002 won the Time Out Award for comedy. In 2004 he was named best international act by the New Zealand Comedy Guild. In 2013, he completed his uproariously funny, 100 date, sold out tour, Slacktavist. Andy’s also a regular at The Comedy Store as part of Cutting Edge, a group that “makes Mock the Week look like Points of View,” according to London Lite.
ANDY PARSONS – WRITING AND TV
His writing career started out with a bang, writing for Week Ending and quickly becoming one of the main writers for the iconic topical puppet show, Spitting Image.
Since then he’s become a regular presence in many of Britain’s top comedy and panel shows – along with Mock the Week, he’s appeared on QI, Live at the Apollo and They Think It’s All Over. With Naylor he had his very own sketch show, Parsons and Naylor’s Pull-Out Sections which Parson’s described as “Political comedy for people who don’t like political comedy.” He’s not limited himself to telly either, having written and starred in his own Radio 4 Sitcom, The Lost Weblog of Scrooby Trevithick.
