Jo Brand pairs a relaxed stage presence with sharp observations and the kind of put-down that needs no embellishment.
Jo’s stand-up is built on timing, attitude and a clear point of view. The delivery may be unhurried, but the jokes cut through, drawing comedy from the absurdities of daily life and the expectations placed on people.
Her earlier nursing career helped inform Getting On, the hospital comedy she co-wrote and starred in; her performance won a BAFTA in 2011. Her screen work also includes hosting The Great British Bake Off: An Extra Slice and co-writing and starring in Damned. She is the author of books including Look Back in Hunger, Can’t Stand Up for Sitting Down and The More You Ignore Me.
