Hailing from the sunny Essex Peninsula, Russell was brought up on the lovely councilly streets of Enfield, North London. After several exam failures, Kane eventually achieved a first in English and began working in a shop and then in an office, and that was when it happened… It was a dare, a curiosity, a “Lets see what’ll happen”. So he had a go at stand up comedy. Since then he has never looked back and has won numerous prestigious awards including the Edinburgh Comedy Award and Australia’s Barry Award. Russell states that he loves cheese, anything curried and the minimalist writings of Haruki Murakami, oh and his favourite word is defenestration.

Russell Kane has an obvious passion for sharing things demonstrated in his delivery of good tales and great jokes, he is also rather interesting, dancing around the stage with a sense of intelligence that exudes from his personality also. He touches on provocative issues including racism, feminism, politics, the celebrity culture and disturbing stories from his childhood, all with a subtle swaggering silliness.

Russell Kane does a national tour most years with various new material, he has written a play which went on to be performed at the Soho Theatre and also got staged at the RSC, he has also written a fully fledged novel. Kane has also appeared on television on numerous occasions; he won Celebrity Mastermind in 2011, he has presented Geordie Shore: The Reunion and in 2012 he co-presented Britain Unzipped with Greg James on BBC Three.
