Alan Carr is one of the most recognisable comedians on telly at the moment, from his award winning show Chatty Man to his hilarious stand up sets and guest appearances: you’d be hard pressed to find anyone not familiar with this larger than life character. Alan’s not just a star in the realm of television either – he also had a regular show on BBC Radio 2, Going out with Alan Carr, and wrote some best sellers. He’s even performed for the Queen in the Royal Variety Performance!

Alan Carr, a Chatty Man

With his tongue in cheek and his mischievously camp humour, Alan’s been a star since his debut back in 2001 when he bagged the BBC New Comedy Award for Stand Up. Since then he’s won numerous awards for his stand up and work on the comedy circuit and it wasn’t long before he caught the attention of Channel 4, earning him a presenting job on the then Friday Night Project. In 2009 he landed his own chat show, Chatty Man which has hosted celebrity guests from Samuel L. Jackson to One Direction, and last year became the proud winner of the BAFTA Award for Best Entertainment Performance. Not wanting to limit himself to his own show, Alan has also guest starred on shows like Nevermind the Buzzcocks and 8 Out of 10 Cats. His two stand up tours, Tooth Fairy Live and Spexy Beast which the Stage called, “a masterclass in crowd-pleasing gags and brilliant comic physicality,” have also been astoundingly popular.

Not content with his small screen success, Alan published his autobiography Look Who It Is! in 2009 which became a Sunday Times Bestseller. Covering his childhood in one of the most boring towns in England, Alan talks about his football manager dad, and the problems with navigating puberty, which Alan says left him with “a huge pair of knockers and the voice of a pensioner“.
