Want To Hire Norman Lovett?
Norman Lovett – or, as a lot of people know him, ‘Holly’ from Red Dwarf – considers himself a ‘stand-up comedian who can act a little bit and is yet to appear in a pantomime’. But we don’t think Norman’s doing himself any justice, there. With his distinctive hangdog look and deadpan style, Norman Lovett is truly legendary in the comedy world (we also think he’d make a stunning Cinderella). It’s a genuine pleasure for an audience to be seduced by his unique brand of surreal comedy. Book Norman Lovett and you’re getting someone with incredible stage presence, who could charm the birds from the trees.
Norman’s Full of Surprises
Did you know Norman once supported The Clash?! And S Club 7?! You may be surprised to learn that Norman was well-known for performing in unusual settings – Oh yes, this guy doesn’t always play by the rules. And he’s still going strong – with a Radio 4 series in the pipeline and a fantastic DVD from a recent Edinburgh stint, he’s very much a man in his prime.
From Red Dwarf To Sky Sports
In 2000, Norman went down a storm with his stand-up tour, co-headlining with Chris Barries, who played Rimmer in Red Dwarf. Over the years, Norman’s appeared on telly lots of times: in his very own surreal BBC2 sitcom called ‘I,Lovett’; as Dr. Lovett in the sitcom ‘Asylum’; and as himself in one of our all-time favourites, ‘The Young Ones’. Norman’s also appeared in various other UK based shows and sitcoms, most recently on Sky Sports’ WoCuRou, a football-based comedy show surrounding the World Cup.
“Exquisite stand-up comedy” – The Guardian
“It’s not an act – the man really is this funny” – The Scotsman
“The man is a natural born comic … his delivery is so deadpan, he makes Jack Dee seem like Ken Dodd … few could ever match his subtle skill” – Edinburgh Evening News
