Want to Hire Jack Dee?
Jack Dee’s been a staple of the British comedy scene for over two decades. And it’s easy to see why: with his deadpan sarcasm and stony-faced demeanor, he throws out beautifully crafted gags with what appears to be the most minimal effort. Not many comedians can carry off this persona – but for Jack Dee, it’s served him incredibly well: his particular brand of wry, observational humour has earned him three British Comedy Awards and a BAFTA nomination. Book Jack Dee and you’re getting a comedy legend.
Jack Dee – From The 80s…
Jack’s first gig was way back in 1986 and in 1991 his brilliance won him the Best Stage Newcomer award at the Comedy Awards and launched his career into orbit. Since then he’s performed countless sell out tours. In 2012, after years away from stand up, he returned to rave reviews. His reason for coming back to stand up? Because he wanted to “spend less time with [his] family.”
Jack Dee on the box
Jack’s probably better known from his television work, and there is a lot of it. He landed his first show in 1992, The Jack Dee Show, then in 1995 he moved to Jack Dee’s Saturday Night. In 1997 he came up with Jack Dee’s Sunday Service and then in 2000 Jack Dee’s Happy Hour. He was also the host of Live at the Apollo for a while, and wrote and starred in the darkly funny Lead Balloon. Need we go on? OK – he’s a regular guest on QI, Have I Got News For You, and 8 out of 10 Cats. It’s not only comedies he’s been part of either, as an actor he’s appeared in Silent Witness, Jonathon Creek and even made his West End debut in 1998 in an Olivier award winning play.
