Tim Minchin is an Australian musician, composer, songwriter, actor, comedian and writer. He has been performing his unique brand of musical comedy in front of appropriately excitable and ever-growing audiences since starting out in South Melbourne’s Butterfly Club in 2005. When not on tour, Tim lives in LA with his wife and two children. He’s now toured all over the world and has ventured into acting, he has come a long way since performing at the Edinburgh Fringe selling out to a 300 capacity audience, he was one of the most successful debut acts ever, winning the Perrier Award for Best Newcomer.
The Man With The Wildly Teased Hair
Minchin developed his unique style during an 18-month period when he played regularly in the famous 40-seat cabaret room of The Butterfly Club in South Melbourne. His current songs span various musical styles and topics such as environmentalism, rationalism, prejudice(ism), logical fallacies(ism) and his amour de fromage et de boobs(ism). Tim plays the piano at gigs, whilst looking wonderfully athletic in a pair of skinny jeans, he is joined onstage by his iconic dance moves, wildly teased hair, gently calmed eyebrows, natural aplomb and his enormous… sense of occasion.
Apart from being a hugely successful comedian Tim has worked with the Royal Shakespeare Company, he wrote the music and lyrics for Matilda The Musical and 2012 Tim was offered a major recurring role of ‘coked-up rockstar’ of US TV comedy drama Californication. Tim has most recently appeared on QI, The Royal Varriety Performance and Friday Night With Jonathon Ross. He even hosted an episode of Never Mind The Buzzcocks.He has numerous radio credits, he is an ambassador for The Prince’s Foundation for Children and the Arts and in 2013 he was awarded an Honorary Degree by the University of Western Australia of Doctor of Letters.
