Intelligent, bursting with hilarious show business anecdotes and, by his own admission nerdy, Dara’s stand up is commanding and a wonderful blend of classy and just plain silly.
Dara the Comedian
Dara kicked off his stand-up career in Ireland while working as a children’s TV presenter and his career soon took off. He performed as a regular at Edinburgh and in 2011 he set a new Guinness World Record title for highest comedy gig by performing alongside Jack Whitehall and Jon Richardson on a British Airways flight! He’s toured the UK three times, released four successful stand up DVDs and become a worldwide sensation.

Dara’s TV comedy career is also impressive, starting with Don’t Feed the Gondolas an Irish panel show that launched his career. Aside from being the host of topical comedy show Mock the Week he’s also appeared on QI, Have I Got News For You and Nevermind the Buzzcocks. Over in his native Ireland he also founded a production company and hosted The Panel, twice nominated for best show by the IFTA. Outside of the world of comedy Dara’s co-hosted Stargazing Live with Professor Brian Cox and has his own show on Dave, School of Hard Sums in which various guests attempt to solve bamboozling mathematical problems. Since 2012 he’s also presented Dara O’Briain’s Science Club and he’s been regular columnist in countless newspapers both here and in Ireland.
