Want to Hire Miles Jupp?
Miles Jupp will be recognised by some parents and mini-people as the inventor from Balamory, but he’s also a rather accomplished and award-winning stand-up. Miles has been on the scene since 2000 and uses his posh persona to delightful effect – playing with the stereotype of a minor aristocrat, he manages to charm audiences night after night, whilst at the same time offending them and remaining aloof at all times. We don’t know how he does it, but who cares, when it works so very, very well?
Jupp the Stand-Up
Miles began his foray into the world of comedy in 2000 and by 2001 he’d won So You Think You’re Funny and the Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year. In 2003 his show Gentlemen Prefer Brogues was nominated for the best newcomer award at Edinburgh, and he’d secured a place for himself as a regular on BBC Scotland’s Live Floor Show. He’s toured the UK three times so far and each time his shows have been hilarious.
Miles on the Telly
Aside from his stand-up and his role on Balamory, Miles has become a familiar face. He’s appeared in political satire The Thick of It, the BBC sitcom Rev and has had roles in several films. He’s also become a regular on shows like Mock the Week, Argumental, Have I Got News For You? and Would I Lie to You? and appeared on Let’s Dance for Sport Relief dancing to the Prodigy’s Firestarter (a feast for the eyes). Miles is also an accomplished writer and pens and stars in Radio 4 comedy In and Out of the Kitchen which was later made into a show for BBC4.
